I have an LG WM2050CW front load washer. Despite my better judgment, I washed two loads, each with somewhat shaggy bathroom rugs. The first load of rugs was synthetic, the second was cotton. Both loads washed, rinsed, and spun out fine.
After each load of rugs, there was a lot residue left in the washer, which I took out. For the synthetic rugs, this was shredded rubber backing. For the cotton rug, it was fibers.
I then washed another load of clothes just fine. The next load, however wouldn’t drain, and the display showed “OE”. I drained the tub using the drain tube and removed some fiber from the drain pump filter. I restarted the washer. It filled fine, turned fine, but again stopped at the time to drain, and displayed “OE”. Once, more, I drained the tub using the drain tube and checked the filter. I tried one last time to use the “drain and spin” cycle. The timing came on, and counted down. At some point it stopped and displayed “OE”. I drained it one final time.
I blew through the drain hose from the end, and a little bit of fiber came out of the opening where I had removed the drain pump filter, but the hose was unclogged.
I opened up the washer with no problem, guided by a video I found on line. I removed the pump motor and found a small bit of fiber in there. I then took off the drain hose. The main hose was completely clear (as I had determined earlier). However, I found a partial obstruction in the small black hose that connects between the top of the hose assembly (the white plastic “U”) and the top of the tub.
I have not yet put the machine back together yet. Is there something else I should check?
