Hello,
I have an Amana electric dryer that’s around four years old (model NED7200TW) and the lint filter doesn’t seem to be catching lint properly. At our new house, every two weeks or so my husband has to pull out the dryer and clean out the lint build up at the dryer vent to the outside. Would a new lint filter help me, or is the problem something else?
We recently moved to a new house where the dryer vents almost directly to the outside. The vent has a swinging trap door. This is where the lint build up is that my husband keeps having to clean out.
I realize now that the dryer must not have been catching lint properly at our old house either because there was always lint all over outside by the vent, but because the vent didn’t have a trap door, the lint just went outside and didn’t clog. I always clean the lint filter after each load, but there’s hardly any lint on it. The lint filter looks fine (no tears or anything) so I’m not sure why it’s not catching all of the lint. There’s no over-screen that goes over the lint filter, but it came that way. Would a new lint filter help, or is this just an unfixable problem with my dryer making it incompatible with my new house and the vent trap door? Because the lint filter seems to have always had a problem catching enough lint, I’m worried a new one won’t help.
Thanks for any suggestions!
