Maytag Bravos Cabrio stopping & dl code

This 16 months old Maytag Bravos is a riddled with problems (past rusting under the top plate) and not even sure it is worth fixing. My assumption is to buy a new control board (this is usually the universal solution from what I read). Also Whirlpool will not stand behind this as other bloggers have posted for the Maytag version of the product.

The scenario is that the machine slowly started intermittently stopping giving a Lid code at the very start of the cycle. Then it was consistent and could be reset each time by powering off, waiting a few seconds for the lights to go off, power back on, set the controls and the cycle ran to completion. It worked this way for about a week, then at various stages of the cycle the system would stop with a wide range of repair codes, F51, dl, ul, du. Some associated with the lid lock. I put some lubricant on the lock bolt mechanism, it seemed to solve the Lid stop at the beginning of the cycle. But after starting 3 or 4 new loads each time the system would stop without a code and the lights would just flash with about 16 minutes left around the rinse cycle, then you could press start and it would finish. On the last load it stopped with a dL code during the spin cycle. I was able to turn the dial to "rinse and drain", hit start and it completed the cycle.

The spin, fill and drain functions seem to work fine.

Can one of you experienced guru’s Please offer some direction. Should I take the time to ohm out the control board pins, or just buy the board or something else.

Thanks,

Kevin

This is a very troubled model and my recommendation is that when these go south the best action is to replace it. But if you want to try to fix it try replacing the board.

The Bravos now stop at any point in any cycle with multiples fault codes. Very disappointed with thing. I might get the board if it fixes it just to sell, propably not worth more than the board itself.

I have 2 GE Harmony washers about 5 years old. They have been working pretty well, a few repairs, but has been a solution. I have an account with GE and thinking about another Harmany, the web site shows new changes to cabinet and controls which make me nervous. I was hoping for a carbon copy of what I have. Anyone have reliabilty sense on this new version of the Harmanu shipping today?

My needs are largest capacity, high RPM for speed in cycle time (washer and drying), least options / features, reliability, fast access to repair information and parts. Any ideas?

Thanks

Well that sounds like the right thing to do, but it also sounds like you are using the machines much harder than they were meant to be used. Replacing them every couple of years may be something you just have to do.

Good luck, thanks for the update.
