Maytag code F22

My machine displays a F22 code and will not work. Shutting it off or unpluging it makes no difference. Replacing the latch mechinism did not fix it. Does anyone have any advice as to my next step?

Ouch. The diagnostics on these machines leave much to be desired.

I assume you have the tech sheet, which is how you knew to interpret the error code. I would do a continuity check on all of the wiring between the door latch and the control board, and if you do not find a problem, put the machine in diagnostic mode and see if that gives you any more data.

I imagine it will not, and as a result you will have to try replacing parts one by one. Unfortunately they are expensive parts. I would start with the motor control unit, and then the CCU.

If you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it under certain conditions. See the returns policy.

Good luck.

Thanks! I found the tech sheet in a plastic bag in the botton of the machine. I pretty much figured trouble shooting would go as such. I don’t believe it’s the wiring because when the code first appeared it would reset. This has been going on for several months untill finally it just up and quit. But I’ll check them first, cuz wiring is a lot cheaper than parts. If this keeps up I may just have to look for a simple upright with out all the bells and whistles. I appreciate the help.

Well I always want to repair stuff, but your strategy of replacing the machine with a basic upright may well be the best way to go. The bells and whistles do not make your clothes any cleaner and prices are very low on basic top loaders these days, and that is what I am recommending to people with a difficult or complex repair.

Good luck.
