New Years day I went to use my dishwasher and it stopped working. It showed no signs of life. No response from any of the controls on the control panel. I immediately checked the power from the outlet and I had 122 Volts. I probed several points on the control board and the control board was receiving the full 122 Volts. I also made sure that the door latch was functioning properly as well as the float switch. I have no other information that I can provide other than I would like to know if simply the control board stopped functioning or if the control panel died? Is there a way I can troubleshoot either component further. Or even worse…am I completely off and do I have a different problem?
Check the electrical connections under the machine and make sure the ground wire is firmly connected. If it is, I would first suspect the touch pad.
Is there a way to troubleshoot the touchpad before replacing it?
They’re really tricky because of the very small contact area in the ribbon connector. One thing you can do is very gently "clean" the contacts in the ribbon, using a soft pencil eraser. Then reconnect the ribbon and see if it made a difference. Also very closely inspect the control board for any indication of damage, like burnt components or charring.
Be a ware that even with the door open and the inside panel removed, there is still live voltage in it. Use extreme care.
