I have a 20 yr. old Maytag gas dryer that on initial start up, it has a rumbling sound as described by others in your forum. But mine only rumbles on the initial start up and goes away when it reaches it peak RPM’s. Everything else works fine.
Thanks:

Replace the blower wheel!!! If you turn on the dryer for a minute, and then open the door and the drum will stop but the rumble will still go for a few seconds, it will be the blower wheel. Or, if you want to take the front off, and then you can get to the blower wheel, and spin it. If it free spins without moving the drum, there you have it. I don’t think so Tim, My sound is a rumbling sound and goes away after a few seconds. If it was coming from the blower wheel, which is plastic, it would make a scraping sound as it would be off track and would continue making a sound, whereas my sound is a Rumble starts on initial start up, and stops after a few seconds as the dryer is still running.
Did you look at it??? Or, are you speculating?? Tom
