Maytag glass top triple burner malfunctioning

The center part of the element on my large triple burner quit heating. The 2 outer rings of the element still work.
Is this just a case of needing a new element or could it be something else?

Lisa,

I would suspect a bad burner selector switch, before a bad element.

It’s still a possibility, but at this point, I’d start there .
