My Maytag MDG8000AWW gas dryer will start the cycle with heat but it stops heating after a minute or two while it keeps running. I tried it on the timed dry and also the sensor dry. I have been researching it, and I am limited on my knowledge in appliance repair, but I have heard it could be the fuse on the back, the igniter, the solenoid, or the coils. I don’t have an Ohm meter. I spoke to a parts place and they said most of the time its just the fuse in the back. I pulled it out and removed the vent hose. There was quite a bit of lint inside where the vent comes out and I got that removed. My question is, is it worth going to buy a meter (I have no idea how much they cost) or should I go buy the fuse and give that a shot before I delve into the harder stuff? I am just a Mom trying to save some money.
