Maytag Neptune Door Leaking

Hello. I have a Maytag MAH4000 that has run for 10 years. Bearings/tub, motor, and a door microswitch were replaced at 5 yrs (thank you Best Buy service plan). After that, the last 5 years have been good.

On to my problem. It’s occasionally leaking around the front door. Some loads are fine, some leak a fair amount of water. It tends to happen on white/hot loads. I have torn the front of the washer apart and inspected the boot VERY carefully. There are no tears, cracks, slits, or anything else that I can find wrong with the boot. I have see a number of posts about people having problems with the boot, but usually they have some type of damage to it.

So, here’s my question… Do these boots just wear out where it seals against the door? It is 10 years old. I’m sure the door has been open and closed hundreds of times. It looks fine. I’m just wanting a second (or third) opinion before I buy a new boot that I may not need.

Maybe I’m one of the few people that still have one of these Neptunes - given the terribly expensive track record for repairs. I guess it wouldn’t surprise me.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide !

Doug
P.S. I thought it may have been overfilling, so I started it empty. Once it filled, I stopped it, carefully opened the door and found that the water was just below the door level.
