My refigerator is buzzing for about 4-5 seconds each time the compressor starts. Besides the buzzing noise, the fridge/freezer seems to be working fine. I checked the fan and it is not obstructed or dirty. I cleaned the coils underneath but that doesn’t seem to have made a difference (they were not excessively dirty). My next thought is compressor start relay. Any other ideas before I make my purchase?

Remove the back cover and check the compressor when it starts up, if it buzzes, you have a hard starting compressor. If so, it may eventually fail. You can try a new start device AP4079373

I removed the cover and I couldn’t pinpoint the buzzing. However, the buzzing increased in frequency. It repeated every 3 or 4 minutes and the compressor was not starting. Now it quit working completely. My guess is the compressor is bad.
Remove the start device, if it rattles when shook, it’s bad.
