As the title states, my top load Maytag wash machine doesn’t want to agitate. When put on a regular cycle, it will fill with water, and then sit there without agitating til the timer reaches the spin/rinse cycle. It seems to spin just fine, and sometimes during the rinse cycle it seems as though it’s agitating for about a half a second, but then stops. There is no motor noise at all when it should be agitating, making me think its not the clutch, but I could be wrong. Every few times I run it though, the agitate will work, but that’s getting few and far between now. Does this sound like the timer has burnt out? Thanks!
Probably a bad timer AP4028326. To confirm, I would pull the cover off it and look for burnt contacts.
