My Maytag LAT7904AAE does not agitate in timed modes.
It fills then does nothing. I can get it to spin and also, if I
set a presoak, it will agitate briefly. The timer continues to time
but does nothing untill the spin cycle then turns off like normal.
Sounds like either a bad motor, or, more likely, a bad timer.
