Washer will not agitate, but will spin

Maytag Model #: MAV9501EWW fills up to specified level and does not begin the wash cycle. I can turn the timer to spin, and it will begin to spin. However, I turn it to rinse, and it will not agitate. Will not agitate in regular wash cycle and rinse but will spin during the spin cycle. Could this be a timer issue?

Forgot to mention that I don’t hear any motor noise during the wash and rinse cycles.

Assuming the timer does not continue to advance after fill stops, it could be either the water level pressure switch or the timer. After washer has stopped fill, turn washer off, open control panel and unplug connector from water level switch and jump the gray wire to the yellow wire and turn washer back on. If it still doesn’t work it’s likely the timer. If it does work, check the pressure hose that runs from the pressure switch to the air chamber on the side of the outer tub. The hose could be clogged as could be the chamber or the hose may have a leak or kink in it. If all is ok, replace the pressure switch.
