I have a 24 year old maytag washer that suddenly stopped working. It fills with water, but does nothing else, no matter what cycle i choose. The timer seems to advance, and you can hear the timer click periodically like it is moving to next cycle. I verified that there is power to the electrical outlet. I opened the control panel, tested the two lid switches and the fuse. The larger lid switch functions properly…the smaller of the two switches seemed questionable. i had an identical unit from an old arcade cabinet that i used to replace it, but it did not make a difference. I’m not sure what else to try. I found a replacement timer for around $100 online, but since i’m not sure that is the issue, i hate to drop $100 on something just in case it will fix it…it is 24 years old after all.
is there anything else i can test?
