Maytag wont fill

This appliance was in the house when we bought it. I have cleaned the filters on one other occasion to great success.

This time, the symptoms were similar: soapy film on dishes and soap residue left in reservoir. I removed the lower spray arm and cleaned out the holes. I removed the round filter and cleaned it meticulously. I put everything back together and it won’t fill!

I never had this problem before I cleaned the filter and cannot imagine I did anything to cause it. The float switch is working and some water did splash around in the initial few minutes, but now it is dry. It seems like I am just missing some easy step. Any ideas on what that step may be?

Nothing?! Not one reply.

Great.

Hi, deadnotsosoon.

Check if the water is not closed.
Check the water level switch. It may be stocked.
Check the 120VAC to the water inlet valve (only if you fill OK to perform the "life" test) using the multimeter.
Check the inlet solenoid for continuity.
The inlet valve could be clogged with particles.Only if it’s getting 120V take it out and check (don’t forget to turn the water off).

Thank you. Post the results and sorry for the delayed answer.

Simon.

Thanks for the reply.

I have no idea what that stuff is and I’m not allowed to hire a serviceman because we’ve already done that twice for this maytag and we are rapidly approaching the price of a new unit. I gave the dishwasher an ultimatum and it seemed to respond.

I told it that it had one chance. I put it back together and it seemed to work. Water began gushing around for the first 10 minutes and then it went dry again. now it has been running dry for about 20 minutes.

After dinner we are going to Lowe’s.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

You are welcome.

Simon.
