A year ago, my wife heated food on a plate that had metal stripes in it. We saw sparks fly but we quickly stopped the cooking process.
Since that day, the microwave oven would make a loud buzzing noise only while cooking some types of food, especially popcorn.
Yesterday, it made it’s last buzzing noise and now it does not heat at all.
What could it be? The mag tube? (this is my guess)
Sounds like the mag tube to me, the thing is if you have been hearing a loud buzzing noise and burning smell, the waveguide may be burned, to which there is no repair for, and you would either throw it away, or get ge to pro-rate the cost of a new one, but they may make you have a tech come to verify that it is indeed non-repairable. Hope this helps
I just replaced my control board and the new board did the same thing. I pushed the "High" button and it just started flashing, then I pressed the "Normal" button and that started flashing, Then the "Cancel" button and they were all flashing. I have a different model dishwasher, but I got the same replacement board. I think I got a bad board and I’m having a new one sent to me via the 90 day warranty, but I’m not sure yet if that will fix it or not.
I was able to drain the water out by hooking up my old board and pressing the "Cancel" button twice. I guess that’s one thing my old board is still good for.
Since this post is a month old, I wondering if you were able to determine the actual problem, was it the control board?
I will let you know how my replacement goes when I get it in.
I am not sure if I am doing this correctly, however, I need some help with my wall oven from Magic Chef. The over will never get hot to the temp that I set it to, can someone let me know if this is fixable or do I need to buy a new oven?
