My stovetop grill won't shut off

My grill/griddle on my Kitchen Aid stovetop won’t turn off. I have to turn off the breaker. When turning the control knob, it has no effect and the burner goes straight to high. The other four burners work just fine.

I am assuming that I would need to replace the switch. Are the switches different? How can you tell which switch is needed? What is an infinite switch? How do you remove the switch from the panel? Is there a screw I can’t see?

Thank you in advance for your help, its been fustrating to say the least especially trying to cook for my daughter’s birthday!!!

Did you ever get a reply or find an answer to your switch question? I’m having the same problem with my Kitchenaid cooktop and am currently searching for parts myself. I have a double burner switch that isn’t functioning properly and the light for the stove show’s it’s constantly on even though the burners not on. I assume its the switch as well, but I see I can buy a switch, or a "switch kit", but am also concerned that I may need a different type of switch because it’s a double burner (which gives you the option to put just the small burner on and/or the large burner).
