This morning my dear husband put new washers in hoses from the hot and cold water faucets and about 20 minutes later I heard a pop! The washer door had popped open and water was coming out of the washer. I hadn’t started a cycle but I did wash yesterday and there wasn’t a problem that I was aware of. I tried to set the washer to the spin cycle and it will start but won’t stay running for more that 20-30 seconds and now will not start a wash cycle at all. Here’s the crazy thing - I have to turn the water off when I am trying to spin because the washer seems to filling up at the same time! Any thoughts?
Very likely the problem is a bad water inlet valve. If you need the correct part number, post the serial number of the washer.

Thanks Gene! 37295951WB is the serial number. Is this something I can fix myself or should I call a repair man?
Hi Sillygurl,
[service manual](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-water-valve-item-number-ap4026668.aspx?pn_=22002558"][/URL]
There are two ways to access the water inlet valve. In your situation the access from the front of the machine is preferable. It is described on page 6-1 in the [URL="http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=42).
I would recommend to draw a picture for yourself of all wires and hoses connections prior to disassemble it.
You can order the water inlet valve by clicking on the above picture.
