On cold wash/cold rinse cycle the wash water is hot/warm and the rinse cycle is cold. On all other selections like hot wash/cold rinse there is cold water. Sure appreciate any ideas. thanks

Sounds like a problem with either the water temp switch, the water temp board, or possibly( not probable ) the water valve which has a thermistor built into it. Below is a paragraph right out of the Maytag Service Manual, not sure it applies to what you’re experiencing or not, considering I don’t know what part of the country you live in. I’ve also included a link to your model with the parts I’ve mentioned. Within that link you’ll find a wiring diagram.
The cold water valve is opened for full cold fill. If the
incoming water temperature is below approximately
65°F, the hot water valve will open and warm the
incoming water. The hot water valve will continue to
cycle on and off maintaining optimum cold water
temperature until the tub is full. The target water
temperature for a cold wash is 70°F to 80°F.
