Hi! I have an issue with my GE side by Side refrigerator (GSS23QSTASS). It started to frost on the back of the fridge and then the temperature in both the refrigerator and the fridge started to go up. I figured it was an issue with the Mother Board. I investigated and learned that the mother board for this model was discontinued and replaced by a new one with more components but that according to GE it should work just as the older one (Part WR55X10552 was replaced by WR55X10942). When I replace the motherboard I got an error problem in the display (0 flashing in the display).
I saw in a older post that it might also need to replace the Temperature Control Board? Does that make sense to any one? Could it be that the new Mother Board cant communicate properly with the old Control Board and I need to also replace it? Is there a way I can reprogram the new Mother board to work properly?
please help!
Rare the encoder fails in these fridg’s, I would try another board, or just put the old board back in.
Then, remove the 3 pin power connector from the board and put a wire jumper in the connector between the mating pins as labeld line and def on the motherboard.
Plug fridg in, if no defrost action, replace the defrost thermostat/limiter clipped to the top of the evaporator.
