No heat coming from my dryer.

I’ve opened up my dryer. No issues with the thermal fuse, check for continuity and it was good.

Basically, the issue is that the igniter doesn’t glow. I’ve check the igniter for continuity and I was getting a bit of resistance which is expected.

What could the issue be? Coils? Another sensor?

Thank you in advance for helping.

Hi.

If you checked the thermal fuse with one wire off, then proceed to the control panel.

Open the panel.Locate the black heat relay with red wires.

With dryer running check for 48VDC between red/white wires

If there is no voltage - replace the control board.

If voltage present (with power off) install the jumper at two
red wires. Turn the dryer on.

If the gas comes on - replace the heat relay.

Hi Simon,

Thanks again for helping me out.

Alight, so I’m want to check the heat relays, there are 4 red wires, 2 with white lines, two without.

Which one am I checking for current? Also which two do I jump if voltage is present?

Thank you.

Hi.

You check for 48VDC between red wires with white stripe (they are smaller gauge). You jump two larger gauge red wires.

Thanks. Post the results.

Simon.

I’ve jumped the two red cables on the heat relay and the igniter went on and flames came on. However the flames did not stay on long. Maybe about 10 seconds and shut off. Is that normal or is it because I’m jumping the cables?

Hi.

Did you check for 48VDC as I asked you?

With out voltage test replacing of the relay would be guessing.

The fact that the flame didn’t stay on long is a different issue.

First of all you need to have a wet laundry inside and the air flow should be unrestricted.

Let’s take care of NO HEAT problem first.

Post the results.
