no heat

please help me out! we have a dryer not heating, i have found the timer control is not shutting off the dryer also, and we have no heat. could the timer be my problem or are there more to all of this

Timer will not advance in auto-dry with no heat. Does the timer advance when in timed dry?

Eric

yes the timer is working when set on timed setting

Do you have a multimeter and experience using it? Are you willing to take part of the dryer apart as you need to observe whats going on with the gas burner and check some things with the multimeter. If you have zero experience at this, you might just as well call a tech.

Eric

well i tore the thing apart vacuumed out the inside and tore apart the blower to clean it . put it back an still no heat . i have little experience with a meter . i was hoping not to call a tec. bummer!!!

by any chance do you think i need a gas valve coil kit

With front panel off, hold the door switch and turn the dryer on. You should be able to see the glow of the igniter in the heater enclosure. If you see it glowing but your getting no gas, then it’s possible that one of the coils is bad. If ignitor is glowing, you should then hear the radiant sensor click off, at which point the secondary gas valve should open and the gas should ignite. If you don’t see the igniter glowing, then your not getting power to it or it’s bad or the radiant sensor is bad. No power could be caused by any number of things such as bad timer, temp switch, cycling thermostat, hi-limit thermostat, motor switch…etc. You can either troubleshoot with multimeter and find the bad component or just throw parts at til it’s fixed. I’m a troubleshooter but it’s usually a lost cause trying to explain to a total rookie how to do it unless you at least have some experience.

ok its worth a try thanks for all the help ! Im diving in again!!
