No powwer to Kenmore Washer

My Kenmore washing machine quit working in the middle of a wash cycle. It filled with water and agitated, but then stopped completely without draining. Now it is completely dead.Pushing in on the lid switch doesn’t help. Turning the timer control doesn’t do anything either.I’m getting ready to dig into the control panel to do some electrical tests. However, I wanted to see if anyone had any quick suggestions.

Start your electrical testing by either checking the operation of the lid switch, or bypassing it to see if the machine will drain and spin. If the lid swotch is bad, the machine won’t spin. If you find you have continuity in the switch when it is depressed, I would next suspect the timer. Before making any kind of electrical tests, unplug the machine.

I found the problem to be the lid switch. Once I got the console open so I could get to the connector for the lid switch, I disconnected the connector so that I could check the switch for continuity. I found that the switch would make contact only maybe once every 10-12 tries. I jumpered out the switch & the machine operates normally. I am replacing the lid switch.

Well done! Hear’s the part number: AP3100003
