I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my Washing machine! The spin cycle will no longer work. When its time for the washer to start the spin cycle, it makes this aweful noise like something is stuck. If I lift the lid it will make a loud popping noise and then I close the lid and it will work. It is getting tiresome having to wash clothes listening for the spin cycle so I can properly wash my clothing! Please help, what could the trouble be? Also, sometimes there is a clicking noise sometimes that sounds like it is coming from the cycle knob?

It sounds like the pause necessary for the transmission to shift from neutral to drain is not taking place. This can mean there is something wrong with the timer, or even the transmission.
I would try changing out the timer, but check the lid switch just to make sure it is not the problem.
