We moved in our house in Oct. The fridge didn’t have the icemaker hooked up. We hooked it up all worked fine. Then the water wouldn’t come out of dispenser and ice started making hollow. Now the ice maker wont make at all. Got the water coming out again. The filter needed to be changed I’m guessing because when we take it out it works fine but still no ice.
Any suggestions on why it wouldn’t now be working?

M Henry,
First things first,
Based on your post and description, check the ice maker water fill tube in the wall, it may be frozen closed, you can usually use a blow dryer for a few minutes and defrost the tube.
You could have a bad fill valve or ice maker but check the fill tube first.
it does not appear to be the line. I watched it cycling through the process of making ice but no water still. I checked the hose in the back that runs to the ice maker and no water in the line there either. But still have water in the door.

The best way to handle this would be to check for voltage to the valve, from the ice maker.
If you have a multi meter, attach your meter leads/probes to the wires on the solenoid, turn the icemaker on, and let it cycle, you should have 120 VAC across the wires, when the ice maker reaches the fill increment in the mechanism,
If you have the voltage, you’ve got a bad fill valve solenoid, and need a new valve assembly.

If theres no voltage you’d need to dismantle the ice maker control head and determine if the water / fill switch is bad or one of the other components failed, or replace the ice maker.

If you don’t have a meter, start with the fill valve, that’s a more common problem .
