I have an older Kenmore washer that is leaking at bottom, near the front.
From the previous threads, it appears it may be the tub seal or pump. If it is the tub seal, is it worth repairing or replacing ? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Here is how you distinquish if it is the seal or the pump. Pull the washer away from the wall, and then unplug it, and then lean the washer back, and rest it on the back wall. Then lay down on the floor, and the pump is in the front in the middle. Fell all around it and see if it is wet. Plus look at the dust trail under the washer. If it is clean of dust, in the front middle, then for sure the pump is leaking. If it is the seal, and the washer is old, I would get a new one. Unless you do it yourself, then the job would be real cheap. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your repy, the dust is undisturbed (dry), in the back of the washer and is only leaking from the front. The pump sounds like an easier undertaking than the seal. I was going to try and repair it myself, I figure since it’s an older mashine, I don’t have much too lose. Tom, thanks for your help, it is appreciated.

You should not have a problem. 2 clips, and 2 hoses. If you cannot get it off without taking the cabinet off let me know. I will send you directions on how to take the cabinet off. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com/parts.htm
