I have a 1997 Hot Point side by side refrig/freez.
Ice maker quit. The water line was empty.
I just installed a new dual water inlet valve, model WR57X10051 and new ice maker hose.
Hoses hooked up correctly as water dispenser works great.
HOWEVER, no water flowing into hose for ice maker.
I don’t believe ice is in the inside freezer hose.
I am thinking the valve keeps water pressure on the hose and ice maker draws it inside the tray when needed.
Looking for suggestions to get ice maker to work. bjw
Did you check it or it’s just what you don’t believe?
Does the ice maker has a green LED on its side? If it does then what is the status of this LED?
What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Thanks so very much for your help on my water valve and line to ice maker.
This HotPoint side by side was new in Jan. 1996. Model CSX27DRXAWW
There is no LED feature on ice maker.
I squirted warm water many times thru freezer’s inside water line to ice maker. Only a little mineral deposit was in the line, no sign of frozen water. The ice maker arm continues to rise and lower.
The ice maker replacement model by GE is AP4345120.
The old water valve’s solenoid wattage was 15W for water dispenser and 35W for ice maker. On this new solenoid, only water dispenser side was different, it is 20W.
Again, thanks Gene for any assistance you can give. bjw
Gene, On 3/16/11, I swapped the wires between the solenoids. A friend came over to also help and give me some explanation…
The water dispenser switch did get the h20 into the tray. As of last nite it has frozen and I now await the ice maker to continue with with warming the tray and the "rake" to push the crescent shaped cubes out of the tray.
My friend feels the ice maker hose had been empty and maybe had an "airlock" and water not push air out until we switched wires. So, ice maker hose is full of water. I swapped wires back to appropriate solenoids. Water dispenser works, and hopefully ice will eject.
Please advise me of other action/observation that i should do. i will get back to you if ice not eject.
As you probably know, I hope to avoid replacing this 14yr old ice maker. bjw
Unfortunately if the ejector did not move since yesterday, the ice maker is bad.

i took the ice maker from the freezer. My friend and I goofed big time.
We had caused more water to enter the tray after ice had been formed.
The ejector teeth were encased in the ice.
I will begin again with a clean ice maker, knowing water is up in the hose, and will let process begin again and hope ejector will still work. bjw
