My dryer was taking a longer than normal time to dry clothes, so I pulled off the front and back panels to test continuity and just take a look at what was in there. The continuity checked out on the solenoids, which was all I had time to check. We just bought our place a little less than a year ago and it was a rental before that, so I’m thinking I should start with trying to clean the vent in the wall. If that doesn’t work, it sounds like even though the continuity was within the acceptable range, the solenoid would be a good repair to start with.
Anyway, after I put everything back together, I ran the dryer with a couple damp towels to make sure it worked. It seemed to dry as effectively as it did before I went through all of this, but the top of the dryer gets extremely hot. To be honest, I’m not quite sure exactly how hot it got prior to my messing around with it, but I don’t think it got this hot. Could I have put something back together improperly, causing hot air to escape the drum and cause the top to become so hot?
I try not to ask duplicate questions in forums and I looked through this site quite a bit looking for a similar problem, but I didn’t see anything. Any advice, or a link to a previous post, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David
