I have a Magic Chef Model CGR3742CDQ gas stove. The upper burners work but the oven will not heat up. There is no gas smell when the oven is on. I am assuming for the moment that it is a faulty ignitor but am unsure as to what part number is required. Any help would be appreciated.

Fred,
You’re on he right track, most ignition and heat problems in a gas oven are due to a weak igniter,
[part]AP4096256[/part]
You can test for 3.2 to 3.6 VAC, at the wires on the burner safety valve wires, or an amperage draw of 3.2 to 3.6 amps, with a clamp on ammeter, either way, the igniter has to be in the ignition process (on and glowing).
Good Luck,
I have a GE gas range JGBS22BEH3WH that won’t light the oven, either. Cooktop works fine. The glow bar doesn’t do anything, doesn’t even get warm. Does this seem to point to the glow bar, or the thermostat?
Well, the igniter tested with no resistance at all. So I ordered the new one from APP, installed yesterday. The oven fired right up, problem solved. Thanks for the advice!
