Oven on range does not work on bake

My gas oven will not work on bake. It does work on Broil and the cooktop works.

The controls seem to work, the oven just doesn’t light.

We did run the self clean, and it heated up but was not as hot as it usually gets.

What part would likely cause this, and how do I test it?

Hi Dave,

Does the Bake igniter glow when the control calls for Bake?

Gene.

I’m not sure where it is. Do I have to pull a panel to see it?

You can see it through the oven floor. If you can not, then remove the oven floor and flame spreader.

I took the bottom apart, closed the door, and turned it on. I waited two minutes and the ignitor didn’t glow. Should I order one, or is there something I should do to test it first?

I started looking at the diagram to figure out which part to get. Just to confirm, is it AP3963540?

Dave,

Unplug the igniter quick disconnect plug and check the igniter for continuity. Check for 120 VAC at the plug while the control calls for Bake.

Post the results.

When I went to disconnect the igniter, i found a quick connect running from the electrical to the valve that had broken off. I cut the wire and replaced the connector. My oven once again works.

Thank you for your help.

You are welcome David. I’m glad it was easy to fix and it’s up and running.
