oven problems

Wife use self cleaning option yesterday - had to replace the thermostat fuse (Open circiut - found this to be normal after reading web posts, we will never self clean again). Installed new fuse and now getting F2-E1 error, code indicates keypad not connected so I inspected/cleaned ribbon cable but no help. Tech sheet with oven states to clear code press cancel - this does not work. It says to replace keypad, then possilbly the control board if the keypad doesn’t fix it.

Bottom Line is it could be the keypad or the control panel (they are seperate on this unit). How do I know which one to replace. Their method is stupid and possibly double the cost if keypad is really OK.

Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board, using electronic contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks, using a magnifying glass.

Make sure the connector is dry, reconnect everything and give it a try.

If it’s still does not work, replace the control panel (key panel). Unfortunately there is no way how to test it instrumentally. Whirlpool did not provide any instructions for such test.

If you need the correct part number for the control panel, post the color.
