Oven temperature Control on GE XL44 B

This oven is overheating. When I checked the sensors calibration I found that it had a 0 bias. Reset it to -35F It still overheats.

What is the normal temperature swing in a gas fired oven. For example with this oven set at 350F a thermocouple attached to the temperature sensor (but not touching it). Will cycle between 335 and 383F. Is this normal?

When the oven is warming up the temperature sensor will lag the thermocouple by 100F.

This seems like pretty sloppy controlling - but maybe that’s normal.

I’ve told my wife to just set the temperature 25 deg lower than what she wants.

I have checked the resistance of the temperature sensor - 1098 ohms. My operating manual says it should be 1100.

Any other suggestions?

I’m afraid I did not get clear how did you measure the real temperature in the oven?

You missed a number between "A" and "B" in the model number.

Put your measuring device in a middle of the oven cavity and redo the test. Temperature during preheat is not important at all. Let the oven stay on at 350°F for about 15 minutes after preheat is done and then register a min and a max temperatures.
