Oven will not heat up, gas won't flow

[LEFT][COLOR=#000000] Hello from Maine :slight_smile:

I am having a problem, the oven will not heat up.

Model number ARG7800LL
Serial number 9709208251

The "bake igniter" glows but gas does not seem to flow, so the oven won’t get hotter than 180 F

The burners on top all work, and the broiler works

Please advise

Thank you,
Craig

Please advise, I hope this can be fixed in time for the holiday

Craig,

More likely the problem is a bad (weak) igniter. You can measure the current drawn by the igniter and if the reading is 3.2 amps or less, no doubt about it.

It comes without the bracket which has to be ordered separately or you can use the old bracket.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=18954

Thanks Gene  I was hoping to hear a simple and affordable solution like that

Have a nice day

You are welcome Craig. Keep us posted.

I tested the two bare wires coming out of it, I am not a pro with the meter but it seemed to have about 111 AC volts and zero amps, is that possible ?

A new one with ceramic wire ties was ordered  We’ll see how it goes.

Hopefully that will resolve the oven crisis LOL

Have a nice day!
Craig

My oven won’t light, no smell of gas, but stove top burners and broiler work, fine. I have an Amana

Model: ARG73022LL Serial: 9901184093

If it is a bad igniter, shouldn’t I still smell gas?

Thanks for you help

I have the new igniter and some ceramic wire ties

I pulled the old igniter out a bit, stripped the wires a bit, and installed the new igniter with the ceramic wire ties.

It seems OK.

The tricky part now is, the stove has been replaced. So I can’t just hook this stove up to the gas and see if it works. I wonder if I can get a propane tank full of natural gas to test this stove out ? My parents (the homeowners) want to just sell it but we’d all feel better selling it as tested

Please advise

No, you can not. LP gas has much higher pressure and your stove has to be converted to use LP gas.

How are you going to do it? When a tank filled with LP (L stays for liquid) it creates very high pressure. You can fill up a tank with a gas from a house line but it’s going to be so small amount with very little pressure of it.

You can measure the current drawn by the oven igniter and if it’s more than 3.2 amps then most likely it will work.

OK, I’ll measure the current
