I have an old Lady Kenmore portable washer, I got it used 4yrs ago. I have had a few issues with it, one of which was a toothpick getting caught in the trap and clogging the pump. I fixed that with not to many problems, but did have to pull the tub to get to the toothpick.
I got everything back together and it seemed to work fine, but I didn’t run it before putting it back together. It turns out that the Center Post Gasket was leaking. I live in FL so my unit lives outside in the shed so I never noticed that it was leaking.
Turns out that the leak caused the WigWag to go out and I changed that yesterday and DID run it to test and thats when I found the leak. I sealed around the post on the inner tub but still had the leak today… that’s how I narrowed it to the Post Gasket.
My problem is that now I can’t get the inner tub out again. Any advice please, I do remember I had to be imaginative the first time I pulled it because I have limited tools and only a medium pulley puller (not big enough). I have gotten the center nut off using a pinion arm puller and hammer, but started going the wrong way and went a half turn before I realized I was going the wrong way, now the inner tub is really tight.
There are 2 holes on the center post of the inner tub, I was thinking of getting 2 eye bolts and 2 turn buckles. Attach the eye bolts to a 2x2 (off center) and attach the turn buckles to the eyebolts and the 2 holes on the inner tub and trying that. But if there is a better way I will go with that.
Thanks for any advice, Frank Porter
