Ok, so this is a long story and I’m tring to decide if I need to fix this or get a new one…It all started one day it wouldn’t pump the water out, So I check the belts and they are in pretty bad shape. Replace the belts, and took the top off to find a sock between the drum and top cover…Tried it out and the pump belt was too loose and was not pumping, when it got to the spin cycle water flooded the inside of the washer…Ok, so now there is oil coming from the clutch and brake under the washer and slinging it all over…And when I get to the spin cycle it will start spinning for like 10 seconds, I get a little smoke and bad smell from the motor and it clicks off like a breaker…My question is Will a new motor fix this? And what about the oil leaking?
Hello sedwick. It sounds like you have two problems with this washer. If water is leaking inside the machine around the transmission, then the tub seal/bearing is bad. Also if there is a sign of oil then the transmission is leaking. This is why the motor is over heating and shutting off. The good news is the transmission comes with a new seal/bearing kit. It is AP4373301. This should fix your problem. Hopefully it did not damage the motor.
It was only leaking when the pump belt was too loose and it spun the water over the top and into the machine…The only problems I see now is the oil leaking out the bottom and on the spin cycle the motor starts for a bit then gives a little puff of smoke and shuts off, It will works just fine during the wash cycle…Do you think the motor is bad and will that kit you refered to fix my oil leak?
Yes the kit should fix your problem. It sounds as if your seal/bearing is bad and this is causing the tub to drag and over heat the motor. The oil is coming from the transmission and the kit will fix that as well.
Thanks for your help, I really hate to put this kind of money into this machine not knowing if the motor will last…again Thanks for all your help
