Hi Everybody,
I would love your thoughts on a quick question.
I have a Whirlpool top load Washing Machine (model LSQ9010LW2) and in an effort to remove mildew and soap-scum, I have detached the "clothes mover" from the "agitator". Under the agitator assembly (dogs, cam, and bearing) sits the "Thrust Spacer". In my case, the spacer is a flat, plastic 3" ring with 8 cutout tabs that are slightly elevated by approximately 1/8th of an inch (part #AP3020663).
My question is: when installing this thrust spacer around the axis of the agitator, should the elevated tabs point down towards the agitator, or up towards the underside of the dog assembly and clothes mover?"
Thank you very much for any light you can send my way.
Notes:
(Some schematics and kits show a thrust spacer with tabs AND a collar. My unit clearly has no collar.)
(Funny, the official Whirlpool parts manual for my washer model shows a different agitator assembly. The friendly Parts agent on Whirlpool’s 1-866 number had the same, incorrect parts schematic. A call to an appliance parts supplier was equally stumped as I am.)
