refrigerator not cooling properly

The refrigerator stopped cooling properly and I noticerd the evaporater fan was not running. I replaced the fan motor. It is running but the refrigerator is still only 58 degrees F. The freezer is fine.Is there something I forgot to check and replace?

Look for a very light frost covering the entire evaporator coil while the compressor is running. If you don’t see this, you either have a refrigerant leak or some kind of system restriction. Also, check to make sure the damper is open.

There is a light frost, but the openings from freezer to the fridge is completely iced up blocking any air movement. Could this be a thermostat, heater, or power board? The freezer seems to work fine.

This indicates a defrost problem. Most likely to be a burnt out defrost heater.

If the heater checks out, would you suspect the thermostat or the power board?

If the heater is OK, I would suspect the board. The thermostat isn’t responsible for initiating the defrost cycle; it only cuts power to the heater. Good idea, though, if the heater is bad, to also replace the thermostat.
