I beleive the damper in my CustomCool is broken, it makes the woodpecker sound when the ExpressThaw turns off. Could anybody tell me how to remove the CustomCool unit. The Service Guide I found is PUB#31-9072 01/01 does not explain how to remove this unit.
Once I free it from the freezer side will the upper cover release by the three tap and allow me to service the damper without disconnecting the wiring harness that go into the bottom of the compartment?

Thanks Gene.
After i found the tape on the back of the cover. Everything came apart great. I took the damper apart and it has some stripped threads. Is there a way to tell that is is just the damper or is the control board faulty which caused the stripped threads?
Or is this just a common issue for the damper to get worn out overtime?
Thanks for you help.

I don’t see how a faulty control board could cause such damage to the damper.
