Replace belt - anything else shoud do?

So need I to replace the belt on my Maytag MCE8000AYW Dryer.

Man this was a fire waiting to happen - thing was filled with lint.

Given it a thorough clean out and sealed the area between the duct collector and the front panel which think was culprit.

Any other preventative items i should do? Like lubricate the motor or just leave thing as is.

Also anyone got the procedure to put belt back on?

Cheers,
Mark

Also anyone gou the service manual? Links found in forum are bad.

Here are your parts

If you click on a parts picture or description a new page will open often with more info about that part.

Here is a manual. You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download it.

Check/clean your vent system.
Check the rear drum support rollers for slop/wear. I would but a drop of oil on the shafts. Just a drop as oil will collect lint.
Check the front drum glides for wear.
Check the idler wheel for slop. Also a drop of oil.
Check the drum seals.
Check/clean the blower wheel.
Often things can get coated with softener residue so check/clean the air entrance holes at the back of the drum. Also the lint screen, sometimes it has to be washed with soap and water.
Check the motor armature for slop. Again a drop of oil would not hurt.

Thanks got manual, and thanks for the tips

Looking thru manual and does not show how dryer belt goes around Drum and pulley’s.

Is this attachement correct?

Your picture looks OK but I am not 100% sure.
If the spring is pulling the idler wheel down the I would say it is OK.

Groove side of the belt is on the motor pulley and the drum.
Smooth side of the belt against the idler.

Also there is a sticky at the start of this forum on how belts should be installed.

Thanks - and Yes idle pulley has downward resistence
