belt slipping on motor pully

My dryer stoped tumbling sort of…had to lighten load. Got worse and worse. It’s either the belt or the motor I thought. The pulley on the motor just spins and does not catch the belt to turn the drum. What the heck am I doing wrong. Is it the belt that needs to be replaced . Drum does lag a little. You can barley push it up 1/8 of an inch… it almost seams like it helps when I push up the drum the little bit I can. It almost makes it grabs the belt better. Is it the belt, do i need a new one. did I put the belt on correct… flat side down on the drum right?

Hello,

Sounds like the belt is bad. Make sure it did not fail into the drum groove. For the belt proper installation you can check the dryer belt diagram [Parts for Maytag SDE305DAYW Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.com](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/img/dryerbelts/ama-dr-blt-dgrm.gif"]here[/URL].

Also check the idler pulley tension spring and the pulley itself.
