Rinse Cycle Fill

I have a Maytag PAV 2300 AWW. I put a new Water level switch in because the machine won’t stop filling…on rinse only!! It did not fix the problem. It works fine on WASH but will not stop filling on rinse???

If it isn’t overfilling on the first fill, I would say you have a timer issue.

Marty,

Does the machine overflow in the rinse cycle, or does the tub never fill ?

If it overflows,

You need to check the air dome hose for kinks, clogs, holes, etc.or replace it.

The hose attaches to the water level switch and goes down inside the cabinet and attaches to the tub bellows on the left rear side of the tub.

If it fills but doesn’t overflow, you need to look at the drain hose and drain pipe, make sure the end of the drain hose/drain pipe is higher than the top of the washer, if it’s lower than that it could be syphonning the rinse water out the tub.

These two checks, or repairs will most likely solve the problem.

Good Luck,

 If it is the Air Dome Hose, how come it fills properly on the first cycle or WASH CYCLE ?? It only overfills on the rinse cycle??

Marty,

First, the way the water level system works,

As water enters the tub from the cover or water flume, and the tub fills, the air is forced into the tub bellows and up the air dome hose and into the pressure switch diaphram, and the water stops flowing.

Now, imagine whats happens if there is a reduction of air flow, due to a kink , debris or sediment in the tube, it takes longer to push the air up and into the diaphram, that allows the machine to overfill.

So , after the machine sets for a while, you start it , it fills and washes, in the mean time the debris or sediment is getting soft and flaking.

The washer finishes the wash cycle, spins and drains, then starts to fill, what happens to the debris or sediment near/in the bellows ? it clogs the tube and the washer overfills in the rinse cycle.

This is not the ONLY possibility, sure you could have a bad/weak fill valve, you could also have a bad contact in the timer,

But based on my experience, I would start at the Air Dome hose, then Pressure switch(you’ve taken care of that) then move on from there.

Good Luck,

Thank You Very Much, I will follow your direction! Again, THANKS!!!
