roper refrigerator condenser motor wiring

I recieved a replacement condenser motor, and the instructions to change the wiring do not match what I have or what I was sent. the original motor had 4 wires, 2 white and 2 red, in a connector, with the same color wires hooked together, and 2 terminals on the motor. The new motor has 3 terminals, and the new connector has 3 wires, 1 white, 1 red and 1 green. I would assume the red and white wires from the old connector would hook to the red and white wires from the new connector, but where do I hook the green wire from the new connector.

Jim,

Did you order part number :

AP3108246

Was instruction sheet number 4387245 Rev. D 7/05
(refer to application 2 or 3 of the instruction sheet
included in the packaging ?

The green wire in the "new" wire harness, in the kit, should be attached to the either green or green/yellow wire and wire nutted so there’s no possible short circuit.

You’ll be fine either way.

Good Luck,

thank you Joe, that worked, though instead of hooking it into an existing wire, I put a terminal on it and used one of the mounting screws to attach it to the frame, and the green/yellow wires were attached to the frame too, so that completed the ground circuit, everything is running fine, so again, thank you for your assistance

Jim,

It’s our pleasure to assist.

I had a feeling you’d figure it out, and be up and running.

Thanks, and Good Luck,
