I’ve a 2 year old SAMSUNG RF263 AERS French door refrigerator.
The fan and the styrofoam around the fan behind the plastic cover in the upper section (refrigerator section) has iced and the fan blades are hitting the ice. This is the second time this has happened in two years of ownership. I am VERY disappointed in this SAMSUNG refrigerator.
Various refrigerator techs(including Samsung) have told me the reason for the icing could be:
-frozen drain tube. Drain tube too small to pass water.
-bad main circuit board.
-bad defrost sensor.
-bad bi-metal strip.
-all of these.
NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM!
Since SAMSUNG wants to replace ALL these parts, I am unable to afford the repair. One year ago under warranty the SAMSUNG tech used a hair dryer to defrost the styrofoam behind the plastic panel and melt the ice but yesterday, the refrigerator was iced again. We do not use the icemaker and the "make ice" feature is OFF.
Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas or tangible solutions to solve this icing condition and the inability to defrost problem? By the way the upper level fan and blades next to the coil ARE turning.
Thank you in advance for any help/ideas or experience that you might offer.
