I have an over range Samsung microwave (ME18H704SFS) and the door stopped staying closed. Researched the symptoms and assumed I needed to replace the door latch hook (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/samsung-key-d-de64-00760a-ap4224485.html).
I ordered that piece and when I actually removed the inner trim of the microwave door to replace the door latch hook, I realized it was not the door latch hook that was compromised, but rather the plastic connection point for the lower end of the tension spring.
The hook on the door latch hook where the top of the spring connects was fine, but the plastic eyelet in the frame of the door where the lower end of the tension spring connects was broken into 2 loose pieces.
I’m not sure how to repair that without purchasing an entirely new door or a new microwave. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I’d greatly appreciate them.
