the fridge is freezing food items - I’ve tried adjusting the temperature down to 1 even and it’s not helping - everything from bottom to top is frozen (with exception of items on door?)
the freezer is also leaking water periodically out of it’s bottom - upon opening a puddle has turned into ice
please help!
Remove the rear panel inside the freezer compartment and below the evaporator coils is the drain pan, check to see if the whole is clogged or frozen. If it’s frozen use a turkey baster or cup with HOT water to pour down the drain to thaw it out, or use a hair dryer or steamer if you have one.

I have this very same problem. I have defrosted and cleaned out the drain two times and in a couple days I have more ice in the bottom. I really need some advice. It’s a ge side by side. After a few days after cleaning the drain all the food in the refriderator section starts freezing.
to help clear up that reoccuring drain problem u may need to go out and get a steam cleaner (not sure of exact name but usually used to clean tile grout or grease). you pour water in the top and it heats it up and when you push the trigger it shoots out steam - that might help you clear out whatever is clogging the drain (usually a pea)

Hi, thank you so much for responding. Here is the verdict. I took it apart again and shoved a smaller tube down the drain and it came out the other end along with the water I put in there. I am thinking now it’s not the drain.
I took off the back panel in the freezer section to find all the coils frosted up and there were ice cicles on the bottom of the panel. Do you know what else might be the problem from this description of symptoms? I do appreciate your help very much.

if the coils are frosted up that is normal but if they are excessively frosted or iced over then there is a definite defrost problem - the only thing that will allow water to pool and freeze in the bottom of the freezer area would be a clogged drain so i would keep clearing it out as best as possible until that problem is fixed. sometimes dust or dirt or something will collect in that tube causing the drain to freeze over 1 drop at a time. every so often your fridge will melt the frost on the coils off and that water goes down into that drain and evaporates from the heat from the compressor so the fact that you still get the ice in the bottom of the freezer suggests the defrost heater is working ok. not really sure as to what to do for the food in the fridge freezing, i’m thinking that problem may be unrelated

OK I will continue working with the drain. Thank you very much for your help.
If your freezer is not defrosting your refrigerator will get to cold causing the food to freeze.
