slight grinding, no agitation or spin

First off… the model number on this machine is on a sticker right inside the lid. There aren’t any numbers left (that should be helpful huh!)

This is a fairly new machine. The machine fills and goes through all it’s cycles as it should. The problem is that when it tries to agitate or spin there’s just a light grinding/ clicking sound. Kinda sounds like plastic on plastic.

I’ve tried reading some other threads and I’m hoping that there’s a coupling or mabey an agitator cam that’s stripped or something of the sorts. Since the machine is only about three years old I’m really hoping that it isn’t the transmission. I know a lot of things are made to be disposable. I’m just hoping that that hasn’t leaked into high dollar appliances!

I thought I had bought some time by picking up another washer from a friend, I’ve got another thread going about that washer.

Your motor coupler is broken (part number 285753A or [Model LSQ9544KQ0](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3963893&pn_=285753A"]Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Motor coupling (for Direct Drive Washers), part number: 285753A[/URL])

Here’s a breakdown that will be very similar [URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=264445)

so roughly how long do you think the job would go start to finish to replace that coupler? I’m very mechanical and have excellent tools.
My wife has wash she needs done today. If I can find the parts in town i’m thinking I may get out of a trip to the laundrymat. And spend about the same amount of cash on the part as I would at the laundrymat.

parts place in town doesn’t have it in stock… bummer!

Here’s a longshot. I’ve got the amana washer (seriel # r 9810023437), that is suffering from different problems (different thread). Are the drive adapters interchangeable?
I highly doubt it! But man, that would be nice if they were:D.

NO sorry the amana is a belt driven machine and the other should be a direct drive. You might see if there are any other repair places near by. Hard to believe a appliance parts place without any couplers. I have at least 10 in stock at all times.

there were two places a few years ago. One was bought out, and the parts dept. got closed after the new owners took over. The other, the owner just died a few months ago.
Now the only place in town to get parts is a guy that sells used appliances. He’s just getting started in the parts business. He also said that the part I see online for about $14 will cost me $38.

Did you see my other thread about the amana?
I’m literally heading out the door in about 15 mins to go to the laundrymat.

Yes, sorry the model number posted doesn’t come up to see a parts breakdown.
