Sounds like a freight train

Hi all…Just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue with their Maytag washer…When it goes into the spin cycle, it sounds like a freight train coming full speed OFF the tracks. Not that nice mellow whirr that was factory. It still works fine but??? If I knew which part needed replacing, I would do it now while the thing is down for the THIRD drain pump in 3 1/2 years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

These are the sort of problems we can only guess at, since we really need to be there to hear it and see what it looks like on teardown.

Here is a link to the service manual. Obviously you want to focus on the tub bearing and you need to check to make sure nothing is caught between tub and basket.

Does the manual in the link provided also cover Bravos MTW6600TQ0??

I looked at the model # designations and it seems like it is WTW (whirlpool) which if I am not mistaken, is essentially the same machine.

I have just finished changing out the drain pump (for the 3rd time) and am looking at the basket/noise issue next. Thanks again for the info!

PS Somebody at Whirlpool?maytag needs to redesign the drain pump with an upstream strainer…That way coins, screws and other pocket debris will not blast holes in the pump housing…

The manual should be cover that model, many models that are the same are marketed under the Maytag and Whirlpool names. Because of its past (no longer relevant) reputation the Maytag versions seem to cost more.

Oh, and they don’t just need to re-design the drain pump, thee is a whole is of items that need attention.
