spin cycle doesn't remove water from clothes but drains

The washer will go through complete cycle and stop.When I open the lid the water has drained but clothes are heavy with water

start over +check to see that it fills then agitates, if it fills +drains but does not agitate or spins but you hear motor making noise ,the problem may be the coupler, connecting motor to transmission

I have started the washer again empty.It does fill and is now agitating.I know it will drain…do you think it is still the coupler?Thank-you for responding
