After draining (from wash or rinse) the pump continues to run and the spin is delayed from starting for quite a long time. This appears to cut into the spin time and the rinse cycle. The result is wetter clothes for the dryer and the feel of the dried clothes are as if the fabric softener isn’t working. One last thing, if you listen for the sound of the pump you can lift the lid on the washer (Whirlpool Model LSQ8243HQ0) causing the pump to stop and the spin to begin immediately. Any suggestions?
The timer on these models has a point where it stops the motor. This causes the transmission to shift into spin. When you raise the lid you cause the motor to stop and you achieve the same thing.
Changing out the timer should fix things.
