I have a Kenmore front loader that agitates but will not do the final spin, it just tumble the clothes. I replaced the speed control board and door lock. I am now not sure where to go or how to fix it. Timer?
Hard to say as you have done the two likely items to have failed and caused your problem.
I would replace the main control unit, and if you buy from this site and that prt does not fix the problem you can return it.
Good luck.
Just received control board (part #64 on pages 4& 5 of parts list). In stalled that and it did not fix the problem. Should I try the timer now or what?
Yes, go ahead and try that. If this sounds like a modus of just replacing parts until you find the problem, that is exactly what it is. Sometimes it’s the only way to fix these machines.
Good luck, hope this does the trick.
Timer came in, installed, no luck. Still goes to final spin and just tumbles.
Any suggestions because I cant think of anything else.
The service manual indicates that either the speed control unit or the timer is at fault, and since you have replaced both of them the only thing left to do is to check the wiring from and to the timer. Use a meter to check continuity.
This is a long shot, but I am left without any other options.
Also use the tech notes to check the replacement speed control unit. It is unlikely but possible you could have gotten a bad replacement unit. Also, it is possible that you may have inadvertently reinstalled the old unit. Don’t take offense I have done that on more than one occasion.
Could be a faulty motor. Motor unit has a tachometer that sends signal to speed control board used to determine if load is off balance. If tach is faulty, control won’t allow spin. There is no main control unit. The part you replaced, #64, is the ATC board (water temp control).
